The Maserati Grancabrio is a very beautiful car to begin with. A heady mix of sharp features, Italian craftsmanship and potent performance, it always managed to stand out from the competition that included the Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder and the Ferrari F430 Spider. Maserati has that undefinable something when it comes to design.
Under ‘Speed’, the values of craftsmanship and handmade traditions bear the name of Maserati. From these common values grew the idea of a collaboration in a unique project: the Italian Grand Tour. This voyage would take place in an exclusive Special Edition Maserati GranCabrio Fendi designed by Silvia Venturini Fendi.
On 27 October, Fendi and Maserati presented ‘The Whispered’ at a launch party held at Palazzo Fendi, Rome. The event began with cocktails to which all the companies and individuals who appear in volumes I and II of The Whispered – Directory of Craftsmanship were invited. Sound designers Nicola Zucchi and Scilla Ruffo di Calabria closed out the party with a lively DJ set. Among the guests, along with Silvia Venturini Fendi, were Delfinna Delettrez, actress Ilaria Spada, Martina Mondadori, Ginevra Elkann, and presenter Fiammetta Cicogna.
The Roadmovie, a four-episode documentary, sub-divided into the four elements (fire, earth, air and water) was born from a desire to uncover the workshops, laboratories and companies whose stories are recounted in the first volume of The Whispered Directory, published in December 2010, and in the second, published in October 2011. Enhancing the Roadmovie of the Italian Grand Tour is the soundtrack performed by Italian musicians, The Whispered Soundtrack, and a diary of images, the Photographic Diary.
