Alammuddin Request

George Clooney was all set to marry British Lawyer Amal Alamuddin, but he overlooked one crucial factor.
Amal comes from an Orthodox Lebanese Druze family and her mother, Baria Alamuddin is not happy that her daughter is intending to marry “outside the faith.”
According to a report in The Daily Mail, Baria is not impressed with Clooney’s Hollywood credentials and doesn’t understand why Amal couldn’t have found a ” nice Druze boy” from the 500,000 Druze community. George’s parents are said to be “ecstatic” about his choice of first wife (It’s Hollywood – there are bound to be others) and are simply happy with the fact that he’s getting married at all.
A friend of the family confided to The Daily Mail, “Baria is not happy. She thinks Amal can do better. She has been telling half of Beirut, in fact anyone that will listen, there are five hundred thousand Druze. Are none of them good enough for her?”

People outside the Middle East confuse the Druze with regular run-of-the-mill Muslims, In fact, it is a special and unique religion incorporating elements of Shia Islam and many other beliefs.
For them, those who marry outside the community are “outcasts” and not allowed to come back. This means that if Amal and George stay married long enough to have children, they could not be raised as Druze.
So, it’s not difficult to understand why Amal’s mother isn’t very happy about this match, especially since she comes from such a religious and orthodox family. They don’t really care much that their daughter is marrying THE George Clooney.

As with so many families in the Middle East, it’s all about maintaining their image and saving face Their standing in the community will be seriously damaged due to their daughter marrying out..
There are claims that Baria has contacted George Clooney and asked him to consider becoming Muslim, and converting to Druze. However, there are no signs that George is very interested in doing that, and there is no evidence that think Amal would want him to.

There is also nothing to suggest that Amal, – a high flying lawyer who counts Julian Assange of WikiLeaks and Yulia Tymoshenky, former Prime Minister of Ukraine, among her clients – is at all religious. So the chances that she will choose some Druze guy instead of George Clooney are remote in the extreme.
So we won’t be seeing George Clooney on his prayer mat five times day any time soon.
